The Center for American Progress, a progressive think tank, is introducing a proposal to overhaul the American tax code today.  While the proposal wouldn't satisfy everyone, I think it's much better than what we have and much better than what President Bush proposes.

+ 4 - 5 | § Finally started using Eclipse... but not for Java

For several years, I've been using IntelliJ IDEA from JetBrains, so I've never seen a need to move to Eclipse.  However, this weekend, I finally tried out Eclipse.  It worked very well for me, but I plan to continue using IntelliJ for my Java development.  You see, I used Eclipse for C development.

+ 5 - 5 | § The pain of Windows

I've had a dual-boot setup on my laptop and my desktop for a while.  I've blogged before about my experiences converting to Linux.  Well, I'm still more in the Windows world than the Linux world, despite my best intentions.  On my desktop, the application that brings me back to Windows is Quicken (I've never gotten it to run in Wine all that well).  On my laptop, what's kept me in Windows is my wireless card, the Linksys WPC54G.  Unfortunately, I chose a card with cardset that's not supported under Linux very well.

Long Way Round: Chasing Shadows Across the World by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman is a fun travelogue.  Famous actor Ewan McGregor loved to ride motorcycles and needed a change from his job, so he had an idea: riding a motorcycle from London to New York, crossing Europe, Asia, and North America in the process.  He called up his friend Charley Boorman, a less famous actor, and they set to work.
