07 Oct '06 - + 19 - 16 A Brand New Car!

We got a new car this week, a 2007 Toyota Prius.  It replaces my old Saturn, which we sold to Jenny's brother in August, just before Douglas was born.

Our Prius

We've just started figuring out all the neat tricks the car can do, but we're really happy with it so far.  The big reason we decided to get the car is that previously both of our cars were coupes, and it's hard to get Douglas's car seat into the back seat of those cars.

It took a couple months for the Prius to arrive after we ordered it, and we just barely missed the full tax credit period.  However, it's great to have a new car with lots of features, good mileage, and room for our new family.

three comments, already:

Menu…Volume…............press and hold “Override” until it beeps/changes color…Back

This lets the passenger enter a destination while the car is moving. You need to do it every time you restart the car. You’d think they’d automatically override when there’s someone in the passenger seat, based on the same sensor that tells you the passenger doesn’t have his/her seat belt on.

Patty’s got a Prius :)

Thats: Menu…Volume…{top left}...{bottom left}...{top left}...{bottom left}...press and hold “Override” until it beeps/changes color…Back

Using angle brackets…bad idea

Thanks for the tip, Rich, but it unfortunately doesn’t work. Apparently, Toyota didn’t like letting people disable the nav lock-out, because the changed the system for the 2006 model year. Basically, the easter egg is gone.

Thanks anyway.
